“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.'” – Matthew 19:14
KEEPING the PROMISE: Proclaim, Worship, Celebrate, and Serve
At CtK we believe in keeping the promises made at baptism. As a congregation, we promise to: partner with families to help teach children about prayer, the Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord’s prayer; assist families in making sure all children receive a Bible; and model lives of discipleship. We trust that through these promises, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our young people will come to a meaningful relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To help you fulfill these promises, we are committed to:
CtK’s version of Church school takes place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. During FaithWalk, children learn Bible stories, sing songs, play games, and build relationships. This program is for preschool aged children through 4th Grade. Students start in worship with their families and are dismissed to attend faith education classes.
Church school program designed for 5th and 6th graders; it is more intensely focused on the baptismal promises above, and serve as a stepping stone to Confirmation. They also start in worship with their families and are then dismissed to attend faith education classes.
This program is for our confirmation classes. These classes take place following worship on Wednesday nights (approximately 7:00 pm). Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 are welcome to participate in these classes with a Confirmation (Affirmation of Baptism) service celebrated on Reformation Sunday in October of their 10th grade year.
At CtK, the priorities of our children’s ministry staff and volunteers include:
The 2023-24 FaithWalk season begins on Sunday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 13, 2023. CtK also provides a FaithWalk schedule, with important dates for the upcoming FaithWalk year. Included in those dates is the Christmas Program and tentative summer VBS dates.
Registration forms will be available. They will be available online as well as being mailed out and available in the church office

We provide, and our teachers teach from, SPARK curriculum. SPARK is Bible-based and is part of Augsburg Fortress, the ELCA publishing house. We are currently using the lectionary model, which aligns with what we do in worship each week.
Youth activities at Christ the King aren’t over once you have been confirmed. The 9th-12th graders of the church are still blessed with opportunities of fellowship and service through our Youth Group programming. This group offers ways to serve our congregation and community and have fun and fellowship at the same time. Each year they partake in a summer mission trip and have monthly get-togethers throughout the academic year.
